Proof Of Work
« Back to Glossary Index
Proof of Work (PoW) is a consensus mechanism employed by certain cryptocurrencies to validate and secure transactions on their blockchain networks. In simple terms, PoW requires participants, known as miners, to solve complex mathematical puzzles through intense computational effort. The primary objective is to demonstrate their commitment to the network by proving that they have invested significant computational resources, making it time-consuming to add new blocks to the blockchain.
